Professions

         Greetings and Opening Prayer

         First: please distribute a piece of paper with one or more professions written on it to each child; it can vary depending on the number of children. Please ask them to read and say what each professional does. The spiritist teacher should write down their answers on the black board.
          Examples: Agriculture, garbage collector, doctor, judge, sales person, grave-digger, maid, writer, vet, cleaner, singer, artist, street orderly, dentist, lawyer, banker, public servant, librarian, professor, baker, cook, waiter, football player, engineer, builder, carpenter (Jesus’ dad), driver, gardener, police man, fireman, nurse, secretary, barber, postman, plastic artist, painter, guard, popcorn seller.

         Second: the spiritist teacher should ask them what the most important profession is. Please listen carefully to all answers and come to the following conclusions together with the children:
         - every profession is equally important for life in society;
         - some professions require more study than others;
         - there are different levels of salary amongst the professions;
         - every profession should be done with love, responsibility, honesty, happiness, punctuality, respect for other people and other professions;
         - whilst we are working/studying we occupy our mind with useful and important things.
         - Work is part of the evolution of the spirit;
         - please show the importance and respect we must have for professional that get paid lower salaries. Please mention examples of what would happen if these professionals were not around (garbage collector, cleaner, grave-digger and street orderly).
         - please ask them if they have profession/occupation and how they put it into practice (children are students and must practice their profession with punctuality, responsibility for the topics studied, respect for colleagues and professors, schedule for study);

         Third: ask if any of them has already chose the profession they would like to pursue as an adult.

         Fourth - activity 1: ask the children to draw in their notebook the profession they would like to pursue or they admire. They could also draw it on sheets of paper and expose them in a didactic clothes-line (string where the artworks are hanged with clips).
